It is hard to believe that my oldest son is a Marine! It has been a roller coaster ride of emotions. He left the 18th of October for MCRD (Marine Corps Recruit Depot) in San Diego. He called that evening from the USO to let us know he made it safely. We didn't hear from him again until October 28th...his 19th birthday. We received two letters from him that day...mail being our main means of communication for the next 13 weeks!! He was well and looking forward to the next few weeks! (yes, he wrote as he was able. I have a pile of letters from him. I treasure them!!)
Long story short...he did well. We were able to go to his graduation a couple weeks ago. It was an amazing experience!! I loved it and cried a whole lot!
His 10 day leave has ended. He's at SOI waiting to get picked up for school...should be this coming Tuesday..1 February. He told me they've just been doing odd jobs around the base this past week. He has Liberty this weekend....and will every weekend. That is unless something happens and they lose that privilege! Due to some goober using their cell phone when they weren't supposed to and getting caught, the whole group of guys lost their phones last week. Logan said they'd just gotten them back when he called me last night.
He said he's enjoying Liberty, but is anxious to begin ITB!!
